This Shopify App Privacy Policy explains how Yuzu Tech Ltd. ("Yuzu", "we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, stores, and shares information when a Shopify merchant installs or uses the Yuzu Shopify app.
This policy applies only to the Yuzu Shopify app and should be read together with our general Privacy Policy, Terms of Service, and Data Processing Agreement. If there is a conflict between this policy and our general Privacy Policy for Shopify app data, this Shopify App Privacy Policy applies.
Information we collect through Shopify
When a merchant installs and uses the Yuzu Shopify app, we collect and process information made available through Shopify APIs, webhooks, and merchant configuration. This may include:
- Store information, including the shop domain, app connection status, Shopify session data, OAuth access tokens, granted scopes, and app configuration.
- Merchant user information made available during app authentication, such as name, email address, locale, account-owner status, collaborator status, and email-verification status.
- Customer information needed to provide Yuzu services, including customer identifiers, first and last name, email address, default address, tags, order count, lifetime value, average order value, and related metadata.
- Order information, including order identifiers, order number, order date, status, notes, tags, line items, product and variant details, SKUs, quantities, prices, discounts, taxes, refund totals, shipping totals, discount codes, customer details, billing address, shipping address, fulfilment status, fulfilment-order data, status-page URL, and Shopify order metadata.
- Product and collection information, including product identifiers, titles, descriptions, status, tags, images, variants, SKUs, prices, metafields, collection membership, and related media.
- Location and fulfilment information, including location identifiers, names, fulfilment-order data, and location addresses where the app has the relevant Shopify permissions.
- Discount information where merchants configure Yuzu to generate or manage Shopify discount codes, including discount settings, generated codes, customer selection, product or collection applicability, usage limits, and validity dates.
The Yuzu Shopify app currently requests Shopify access scopes for customers, orders, all orders, products, locations, assigned fulfilment orders, merchant-managed fulfilment orders, third-party fulfilment orders, and discounts. We use those scopes only to provide the app functionality configured by the merchant.
Information merchants provide directly
Merchants and their teams may provide information directly to Yuzu through the Shopify app, Yuzu platform, support channels, onboarding flows, or integration setup. This may include:
- Business and team details.
- App connection settings and preferences.
- Printing, template, campaign, and fulfilment configuration.
- Support messages, troubleshooting information, and implementation notes.
- Any other information a merchant chooses to provide while configuring or using Yuzu.
Information collected from customers
Yuzu does not ask Shopify customers to create Yuzu accounts through the Shopify app. We process customer personal data that the merchant makes available through Shopify, such as customer, order, billing, shipping, product, and fulfilment data, so that the merchant can use Yuzu to generate personalized prints, inserts, and related workflows.
Where a merchant uses Yuzu campaigns, templates, QR codes, gift-message flows, or similar features, Yuzu may process customer-facing engagement data and campaign performance data needed to provide, measure, and improve those services.
How we use Shopify app data
We use Shopify app data to:
- Authenticate the merchant's Shopify store and maintain the app connection.
- Ingest and synchronize Shopify order, customer, product, collection, fulfilment, location, and discount data.
- Generate personalized package inserts, gift messages, marketing prints, and related order documents.
- Determine which templates, campaigns, printers, trays, and workflows apply to a given order.
- Create or update Shopify discount codes when configured by the merchant.
- Provide status, troubleshooting, support, security, analytics, and operational monitoring.
- Prevent abuse, debug errors, maintain service reliability, and comply with legal obligations.
We do not sell personal data collected through the Shopify app. We do not use Shopify customer personal data for unrelated advertising purposes.
Legal role and merchant instructions
For personal data about a merchant's customers, Yuzu generally acts as a processor or service provider on behalf of the merchant. The merchant is responsible for ensuring that it has a lawful basis and all required notices or consents for the personal data it makes available to Yuzu.
Yuzu processes this data to provide the services requested and configured by the merchant, as described in this policy, our Data Processing Agreement, and the merchant's agreement with Yuzu.
Sharing and service providers
We may share Shopify app data with service providers and sub-processors that help us provide Yuzu. These may include providers for cloud hosting, databases, storage, logging, error monitoring, analytics, media processing, printing, fulfilment, customer support, and other operational services.
We require service providers that process personal data for us to use it only for the services they provide to Yuzu and to protect it using appropriate confidentiality and security measures. We may also disclose information where required by law, to protect Yuzu, merchants, customers, or others, or in connection with a business transaction such as a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets.
Retention
We retain Shopify app data for as long as needed to provide Yuzu services, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, maintain security, and enforce our agreements.
When a merchant terminates its agreement, requests deletion, or uninstalls the app, Yuzu will delete personal data in accordance with the applicable agreement and our Data Processing Agreement, unless we are required to retain it by law. Our Data Processing Agreement states that, upon termination or request, Yuzu will delete client personal data within 30 days unless retention is required by law.
We may retain anonymized or aggregated data for analytics, service improvement, security, and reporting where it cannot identify an individual.
Security
We use technical and organizational measures designed to protect Shopify app data, including encryption in transit and at rest, access controls, authentication procedures, monitoring, and confidentiality obligations for personnel who process personal data.
No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. Merchants should configure Shopify, Yuzu, and any connected services carefully and only grant access to users who need it.
International transfers
Yuzu is based in the United Kingdom and may process Shopify app data in the United Kingdom, European Economic Area, United States, or other locations where Yuzu or its service providers operate.
Where personal data is transferred outside the UK or EEA, Yuzu will use appropriate safeguards where required by applicable data protection law, such as Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent transfer mechanisms.
Privacy webhooks and data rights
The Yuzu Shopify app registers Shopify privacy webhooks for customer data requests, customer deletion requests, and shop deletion requests.
Merchants, customers, and other individuals may have rights to access, correct, erase, restrict, or object to certain processing of their personal data, depending on applicable law. Yuzu will assist merchants with data-subject requests as required by our Data Processing Agreement and applicable law.
If you are a customer of a merchant using Yuzu, please contact the merchant first about your personal data. The merchant controls the customer relationship and can instruct Yuzu where required.

We may update this policy from time to time. The most recent version will be posted on this page with the latest published date.
